American Girl: Julie Saves the Eagles

American Girl: Julie Saves the Eagles is an adventure game mostly based on book of the same name by Megan McDonald, starring the character Julie Albright part of the line of American Girl dolls. At the start of the game Julie receives a letter from her friend Ivy Ling to play a game on Saturday, but the overall goal eventually becomes finding a way to finance the release of an eagle. The game is set in San Francisco (USA) in the 1970s.

Julie can be freely moved around a scrolling environment using point-and-click mechanics. Items in the environment can be examined and Julie can strike up conversations with other characters with branching dialogue options. Julie has access to a diary to keep track of her tasks and an inventory to store items. A map provides access to different locations. At the start only Julie's street is available along with Chinatown where she needs to find Ivy, but gradually more locations become available such as Golden Gate Park, North Beach, a schoolyard and a library, the Rescue Center, a construction site at Marin County and San Bruno Mountain. Solving puzzles is required to progress, often based on talking about items to characters or using them in the environment.

There is also a mini-game where full games of the Chinese boardgame Nim can be played. There characters are voiced.
