Shadows on the Vatican: Act 1: Greed

Shadows on the Vatican is a point-and-click adventure in 4 acts, freely adapted from the bestseller of David Yallop "In God's Name". The first act is entitled 'Greed'.

James Murphy is an ex-priest who spent most of his life serving the Vatican, before he decided to become a doctor in Chicago; currently James is on vacation in Rome and when his old friend - father Cristoforo Ardemagni - calls him looking for help, James decides to reach him immediately. But when James arrives, Cristoforo is lying on the floor in a pool of blood, apparently fallen down from a stairway. Soon James will find that his friend is a victim of a dangerous intrigue involving the Vatican and the organized crime as well.

Shadows on the Vatican is a traditional point-and-click adventure with 2.5D graphics (the 3D characters move around in front of hand-drawn backgrounds). In Act 1: Greed the player gets the control of the protagonist, James Murphy. The game can be controlled entirely by mouse; each hotspot can be observed (by clicking the right button) or interacted with (by clicking the left button). There is also a hotspot function that reveals all usable objects and exits in each scene.

At the beginning of the game there is a skippable tutorial explaining how the game works. The puzzles concentrate mostly on object combination although there are a couple of mini-games; the main character can talk with other persons in multiple choice dialogues.
