Dream Chronicles: The Book of Air

Dream Chronicles: The Book of Air is the fourth game in the Dream Chronicles series. The focus of this game switches from the earlier trilogy which focused on Faye's journey, to now focusing on Faye's daughter Lyra. Since the game is set several years later than the earlier games, Lyra is no longer a child and is now a young adult. The story revolves around Lyra mysteriously winding up in a strange dimension of her hometown Wish. She finds a note from her grandfather Tangle lying around, who suggests finding someone called the Clockmaker will help her find her way back home.

Gameplay is typical of the the hidden object genre where players have to scour an area searching for items to progress, although the game eschews the usual long checklist of items that have to be found that is usually present in games of this genre. In addition for searching for items, locations will have dream pieces scattered around which can also be picked up. Picking up dream pieces goes to powering up one of the five magic powers Lyra can cast. Casting of these spells will be required throughout the game, so collection of the dream pieces is no longer only a side task to increase the players final score. There is also a locate button that will highlight a collectible item or dream piece lying around in an area that will take time to recharge after it's used.

The game also features different types of puzzles in each location. Puzzles include things such as word searches, placing items in the correct spot, jigsaws, among others. To get around to different areas on the world map, players also have to play a Collapse inspired minigame which fuels an airship.

The game features two difficulty modes to play, a Challenge mode and a Casual mode, with the Casual mode allowing the player to skip puzzles.

The PC version is a commercial release and the iPad version is free-to-play with an in-app purchase to unlock the full content.
