Herod's Lost Tomb is a hidden object game from National Geographic, about the famous biblical king. Cutscenes play between the interactive sections, taken from a TV special about Herod. The objective is to collect several required objects from a list at the bottom of the screen, on historical locations and excavation sites within a time limit.
Some objects are hidden under rubble or sand, that must be cleared with the right tool before they can be recovered. The interface at the bottom has several tabs, one for the objects list, another for brushes, shovels and other tools and a last one showing all the artifacts found. The artifacts names are written in gold on the list. When list items are clicked, the silhouette of the object is shown on a grid at the left side.
Mini-games appear between chapters. They are variations of jigsaw puzzles, and other logic puzzles. The hint button is an ancient coin, showing the location of one of the objects and slowly recharging after use. Similar coins are scattered on the locations. They give extra time when collected. There's no penalty for wrong clicks.
