Tomb of Zojir: Last Half of Darkness continues the story of its predecessor. The passage to the Isle of the Dead revealed in the last game, it is time to travel to that haunted island by boat. The goal is to find an ancient temple, finally uncover the true origins of the darkness which supposedly hide within it, destroy it and make it out unscathed.
The game is a horror-themed adventure game played in first person perspective using a point-and-click interface. On the dark and spooky Isle of the Dead, encounter ghosts, ghouls, skeletal remains and the like. The atmosphere is typically intended to intimidate and frighten with the inclusion of haunting sound effects and ominous music which add to the overall feeling of apprehensive tension and fear.
Exploration of the island includes caves, a wharf, an abandoned house, cemeteries and crypts as well as many other foreboding locations. Conducive to the adventure genre, various types of puzzles are waiting to be solved for which players must gather information and inventory objects.
In comparison to previous games in the series, Tomb of Zojir features changes and improvements including the graphics, interface design, options settings and an increase in the number of game-save slots. Inventory objects now disappear after their final use. In-game maps update automatically when the player first arrives at a new location.
The WRF Studios' boxed release contains three spiders, a mysterious scroll, an antique photograph, and 16-page notebook journal and 1 DVD. Upon completion of the game, every player is given a code and an internet link for downloading a free puzzle game, Secrets of the Idol, not available anywhere else. The game must be downloaded within a few days of completing the main game.
