Quest for Glory II: Trial by Fire is a remake of the earlier game game of the same name. It features 256-color VGA graphics (as opposed to the original's 16-color EGA) and an icon-based interface very similar to that of the third game. All the original locations, dialogues, and gameplay elements have been preserved. Though the interface is mouse-based, the player still has the options of choosing topics during conversations by typing them, along with selecting them from a menu.

The Adventurers' Guild - even as an EGA graphics lover I'll say that this is one of the places which have undergone a lot of improvement.

The streets of Shapeir have also undergone a lot of improvement and are now much more varied. Still, you can't buy anything from these extra merchants.

The Moneychanger at night. However, for me night sceneries are an EGA thing. In VGA places lose a lot of color and detail at night - maybe it's realistic, but not so lush...

This happens if you don't defeat the Fire Elemental on time. However, it's a wasted opportunity - VGA offered a possibility to make these fail screens more varied, but they remain very similar.

A very nice change: you don't sleep or rest in your room automatically, you can also take a look and buy some items to decorate it - even though the Hero will soon be leaving for Tarna...

This place was already very interesting in the original. Now it's quite similar and yet different because VGA allows orange hues - something quite missing in EGA.

Playing as a Thief - I recall that, apart from the one in Raseir, the houses where you can steal something were relatively dull in the original version...

...Now they are really WOW. However, this particular room is difficult - to gain full points, you need not only high Sneaking and Lockpicking skills, but also Strength.

All character classes can practice and learn tightrope walking, but only the Thief will dearly need this skill and so only he gets points for completing it.

The harem - a colorful room, annoyingly heterosexual girls (and harems were also a haven for secret lesbianism), but don't you get the impression that they are a bit out of proportion?

You need to sneak past the eunuchs - too bad that most of the time part of the room is obscured by the arrows image (because you only press directions with the keyboard or this image).

Over the rooftops of Raseir - it looks very different in this version. A bit of a pity that only the Thief enters the ritual room this way.
