The Pagemaster

The Pagemaster is based on the movie of the same name. Richard Tyler (the movie's protagonist) is sent back to the library world because the Pagemaster has been kidnapped by Mr. Hyde. Now Richard has to help his old friends Adventury, Fantasy and Horror by traveling to their domains and setting things right - and of course ultimately rescue the Pagemaster.

This is a classic point & click adventure using much animation similar to the movie. The player controls Richard's action through a mouse cursor which is moved through the static images. When passing over an interactive part, the cursor changes its form and clicking starts an action such as collecting an item or moving to another room or a closer view. Puzzles are typically solved by using inventory items. Clues are often scattered around as text excerpts from classic works of fiction.

A central part of the interface is the "decision star" which is used when interacting with other characters and has three options: "yes", "no" and "what". Depending on the answers, points are added or detracted (being a good person pays off) from the overall score points. Solving puzzles or finding clues also change the score. Some puzzles are optional or have alternate solutions.
